Canadian Liberals Justified Their Own Actions
The Emergencies Act Inquiry was presided by a judge of Trudeau's Choice--Are we Surprised at the Outcome?
I watched some of the inquiry into the Emergencies Act and this is my summary. The Liberal government based its decision on:
1) false narratives about the truckers it couldn’t come up with fast enough,
2) news reports it fuelled, many of which were exaggerated and two which were outright lies and had to be retracted,
3) the "potential" of what could happen--potential always exists,
4) "fears" it constantly stoked.
They did not look at actual facts on the ground, such as MP's walking safely to work in downtown Ottawa every day. They did what they could to prevent honest reporting.
Horns were annoying, but not harmful. Not one Ottawa citizen was able to come up with a testimony of any violence suffered during the presence of the Freedom Convoy although there may have been some name-calling.
No guns were found yet convoy members were still beaten viciously and trampled by horses on the day the Emergency troops arrived.
There was no evidence of foreign involvement and there was no intelligence of a plan to forcefully overthrow the government, although there was plenty of dissatisfaction with the government. The focus was on removal of mandates preventing truckers and others from earning a livelihood.
But Trudeau, always the showman, had an unprecedented opportunity. He would try and turn this into a Canadian January 6 event by invoking the Emergencies Act and thereby giving himself unlimited governmental power to arrest, imprison and freeze assets of legal, peaceful, Canadian protesters. When it appeared the Senate would not offer delayed approval of his decision, the act was revoked, just in time. Conveniently the dirty work managed to be done without Senate approval.
Trudeau could voice his support for farmers’ protests that went on in India for over a year—easy to do when it is not your own country—yet he stated on the witness stand that protesting "government policies" in Canada is not acceptable.
So there you have it. They justified their own actions. Is anyone surprised that this would happen with Trudeau able to choose the judge who would preside over the inquiry? I think there’s a name for that.
